This material dates back to the beginning of this project, when Amelia was teaching me how to sew. We used this material to make a shirt. I thought it fitting to use this material again, but this time in a non-utilitarian fashion. I spent some time fabricating the bow tie. I had found a rather wide bow tie, circa 1970, and deconstructed it.

In July of 1969 we had a family vacation to Hawaii. My mom purchased this material on one of the islands. This piece is from a leftover remnant.

This was another thrift store find. I am partial to wool rugs, and I love the idea of a rug or canvas being made into a bag. When I found it I quickly realized it was not a wool, but a synthetic machine-made material made to look like a Persian rug. I would guess late 1960s or early 1970s.

Thrift store material; I cannot help but think as this as someone's unfinished project. Perhaps it was to be a shirt that never happened. Here is my version that came to life.
